The goal with makeup is to enhance your natural beauty, not hide it under a thick mask. A balance of hydration and oil control to create a natural a silky base that will last you throughout your day. Sounds like a dream right? Clinique’s new Superbalanced Silk Makeup claims to do just that.
The Superbalanced Silk has a range of twenty different shades and retails for twenty-five dollars, which is quite reasonable for a high end foundation.
Smooth on silk-enriched makeup coverage with Clinique’s Superbalanced Silk Makeup Broad Spectrum 15. This foundation is blends gently and evenly into skin and provides sheer-to-medium coverage with a natural-matte finish.
Clinique also claims this product is allergy tested, non-acnegenic, dermatologist tested, water-, sweat-, and humidity-resistant, and it is free of fragrance, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, DBP (dibutyl Phthalate), and camphor.
I rather enjoy that this foundation does not have an exorbitant amount of claims. Many foundations claim to do magic on your skin, and list off twenty different claims on the side of the packaging. Superbalanced Silk lives up to all of its humble claims. It has sheer to medium coverage, blends evenly and has a natural matte finish. Great work Clinique!
With that being said, I have a few complaints. For one, there isn’t a pump, which is cause for a bit of hygienic concern. Additionally, I realized this is a foundation that needs a bit of “settling in” time to look perfect on the skin. I find it looks a bit like it is sitting atop the skin for the first few minutes after I have applied it. But after that, it sinks right into the skin and looks absolutely stunning!
It feels very lightweight on the skin, almost as if you are not wearing foundation at all. If you give it time to settle and warm and mesh with the skin, it layers up nicely.
For twenty-five dollars, this is is a foundation you should definitely pick up next time you are near a Clinique supplier. I have heard it is rumored to be a dupe for Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk as well. I have never tried Luminous Silk, but maybe the similarities go farther than the title!
